About this resource

Why this resource exists

There is a great deal of published material telling advisors what their book is worth. Almost none of it starts with the question of whether the book is theirs to sell — because for a large share of the advisors asking, the honest answer is uncomfortable, and an uncomfortable answer is bad marketing.

This resource starts there instead. If you own a practice, we will point you at the people who can value it properly. If you do not, you deserve to know that before you spend two years planning an exit that is not available to you.

Who publishes this

Who Owns My Book of Business is published by KG Enterprises. We are not attorneys, employment lawyers, recruiters, investment advisers, or brokers, and nothing here is advice.

What we do is read the primary sources — employment and representative agreements, the Protocol for Broker Recruiting, firm program documentation, and the rules that sit behind all of it — organize what they actually say, and write it down plainly for the person whose career depends on it. That is a publisher’s job. We are not going to dress it up as twenty years in the business, because it isn’t.

What we will not do is guess. Where an answer turns on the specific wording of your agreement or the law of your state — which on this subject is almost always — we say so and send you to a lawyer. That notice sits on every contractual page here by rule, not as an afterthought.

How this is funded

Who Owns My Book of Business is an authorized lead-generation partner of buyAUM. If you ask to be introduced and a transition eventually completes, buyAUM compensates us. You are never charged a fee, at any stage. Nothing is shared with any buyer without your explicit go-ahead.

We say this on every page rather than burying it, because a site that stands to benefit from what you decide should tell you that before you read it, not after.

What we don’t do

We do not review your employment agreement, tell you whether your non-solicit is enforceable, negotiate with your firm, recruit you anywhere, or list your book. We will never contact your firm. We do not publish program percentages attached to named firms, because those terms change and we cannot verify them.

How to check us

Every contractual or regulatory statement here is attributed to the agreement or the rule it comes from rather than asserted on our authority. If something cannot be traced to a source you can read yourself, treat it as our reading and weigh it accordingly.

If you find something wrong, tell us at outreach.kgenterprises@gmail.com. We will fix it, and we will say that we did.

No physical address is published, by design, and we will never contact your firm. Most people reading this are employed somewhere that would take an interest. Email us and nothing exists anywhere until you ask for it to.
